Jamal Chaouki, the head of PEARL, won the SCI. Kalev Pugi award in 2021. The Kalev Pugi Award, inaugurated in 2002, is made to an individual or team for R&D projects performed during the past 10-15 years, which had a significant beneficial impact on the sponsoring company or on society.
He is a full professor at Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal since 1995. Since then he has been supervising more than 50 post-doc fellowships, more than 50 PhD students, and more than 60 master students. Having published more than 450 scientific articles, 250 journal papers, and 13 books, he is a world-renowned consultant for industrial scale-up of chemical engineering processes.
