Javad Vahabzadeh, one of the Ph.D. candidates of the PEARL group, has won the prestigious Rio Tinto scholarship.

As part of Rio Tinto's ongoing commitment to research and innovation and to strengthening its connections with local universities, Rio Tinto offers an $18,000 graduate scholarship for graduate students to pursue their studies and carry out their research in the following areas:
• Aluminum metallurgy
• Electrolysis of molten salts
• Hydrometallurgy
• Science of environment
• Analytical technologies
• Modelling and control systems
• Data Science
The selection of candidates will be held in two steps by first the internal committee of universities and then the selection committee of Rio Tinto. This prestigious scholarship will be awarded to candidates who meet eligibility requirements, including academic record, the relevance of research proposal to Rio Tinto's "eligible research areas," publications and awards relative to the applicant's study stage, work, and leadership experiences, and perseverance.
