The Plan Magazine, the engineering journal of Quebec, in their last issue September-October 2018 has been dedicated to Pyrowave company, which was received the 2018 Genius Innovation Award from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ). This company was co-founded by Jamal Chaouki, Jucelyn Ducet, and Jean-Philippe Laviolette, head and alumni of PEARL.

Pyrowave was awarded the OIQ's 2018 Genius Innovation Award for its cost effective waste-to-feedstock technology which depolymerize the household plastic waste into its constituent monomers which then can be re-used for another cycle of polymerization. Chaouki, Doucet and Laviolette accepted this award during the 2018 Excellence in Engineering Evening of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, held on May 30, 2018 in Montreal.
