Ahmed Najjar is a Master's student in the chemical engineering department at Polytechnique Montreal. He joined PEARL's group in the fall of 2020. Ahmed obtained his B.SC in industrial chemistry from the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (INSAT) in Tunisia. He also got his previous M.SC in chemical process engineering from Aix-Marseille University, France, in 2016. Upon graduation, he worked in the Clean Combustion Research Center at KAUST, Saudi Arabia, as a Research Assistant for one year. His responsibilities in this position were building and implementing experimental facilities for combustion studies and assisting students and researchers with many specific research activities and experimental designs. His research focused on developing a better understanding of the oxidation and pyrolysis reactions of hydrocarbon fuels using a jet-stirred reactor and simulating the reaction numerically using different chemical kinetic models. After that, he had the opportunity to work as a Research and Development Engineer, for almost three years, with two companies in Saudi Arabia. His work focused on developing a manufacturing process for aluminum-based coagulants and testing their effectiveness in the pretreatment of seawater using a reverse osmosis system.
